Vijaya Nirmala biography

Vijaya Nirmala, a renowned actress and a director, directed as many as 42 feature films. The lady made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the most prolific director (female).

As an actress, she entered the industry at the young age of seven acting in ‘Panduranga Mahatyam.’ ‘Rangula Raatnam’ was her debut as heroine. She acted in films like ‘Manchi Kutumbam,’ ‘Bangaru Gajulu,’ ‘Manchi Mitrulu,’ ‘Rangula Ratnam,’ ‘Prema Kanuka,’ ‘Thalibottu,’ ‘Marina Manishi’ and ‘Amma Kosam.’

She debuted as a Telugu director with ‘Meena’. Other films that released under her direction include ‘Rakthasambandham,’ ‘Devadasu,’ ‘Devude Gelichadu,’ ‘Ajatha Shathruvu’ and ‘Putinti Gowravam.’

She has also produced films like ‘Yes Nenante Nene’ and ‘Mogudu Pellala Dongata,’ under the banner of Vijaya Krishna Movies.

Actor Naresh is her son from the first marriage. In 1969, she got married to Superstar Krishna.
